FENG HUANG

Here in Fenghuang, China, some of the 370 children come to class barefoot. Supplies are scarce and the few supplies which they have are old and outdated. The children sit behind 15 year old cracking desks while paint peels off the walls of the classroom.

The goal of Project Sprouts is to give a boost of energy, love and confidence to the elementary school in Fenghuang. We want to show the children that education matters and that we believe in them. We want to give them hope and a desire to do more than they thought they could. If we can show them that we care, they’ll have the self confidence to get the education which can help break this poverty. We want to help make the school a place of learning, and a place they want to come. In a town where only a small percent of the population receives higher education, a desire to learn is priceless.

With your help, Mondoro Charities was able to accomplish their goal by providing new desks for the Fenghuang school. We provided the school with 376 new desks and 7 new teacher desks. We were able to boost this small school and give them a new hope and desire for learning. The children can now come to school knowing that they do not need to write on their books on their lap, but that they have brand new tables and chairs to sit on each day.
